Welcome to my written guide for a any/Dervish build that works for farming the following areas in The Underworld: Chaos Planes and Spawning Pool.
There is a video of a run showcasing the points mentioned in this guide [ here].
You'll need at least a Zealous Scythe with a of the Dervish suffix, a Caster Weapon of the Dervish as well as a Shield with -2 damage while enchanted will help with running, pulling and balling.
The build can be found here, there are some iterations for it depending on your primary class.
For instance Warrior could trade a good chunk of damage output for survivability by dropping Aura Slicer + Reap Impurities for Whirlwind Attack + You are all Weaklings!
I however would recommend sticking to Aura Slicer + Reap Impurities and using an Armor of Salvation to make the balling of 9x Mindblade Spectre spawns more efficient. It is completely possible to handle these groups without any consumable, however, using an Armor gives more breathing room as well as the chance to ball more precisely, if a balling attempt does not work without an Armor / You are all Weaklings! then you have to reset, regen and lose time in the process.
We'll focus on only clearing some groups in the Chaos Planes due to efficiencies sake.
The Run:
- Enter UW and grab the Clear the Chamber quest from Lost Soul at the spawning area
- Multiple groups of Grasping Darkness' will spawn in, grab the first four on the left bridge and pull them behind with Drunken Master active to rip off the Bladed Aaxte
- Grab the next three Grasping Darkness from the same set of stairs and the last three from the right set of stairs
Before transitioning towards Twin Serpent Mountains there are a couple things to pay attention to:
- on the left set of stairs, with 12s left on Vow of Piety (VoP), cast Extend Enchantments (EE) + Vow of Silence (VoSi) as well as Signet of Mystic Speed (SoMS) and run towards the entrance to the mountains (as seen in the picture)
- maintain VoP through upkeeping EE + VoSi on cooldown while running, this will last until shortly infront of the entrance
- if the Obsidian Behemoth spawn is favorable, stand still with the Grasping Darkness attacking you for a second, then cast EE and VoSi followed by SoMS without spell queuing (which would trigger Grasping Darkness' desire to either Skullcrack or Disrupting Blow you)
- if you manage to get a SoMS through and the path is clear - good, if not, good luck popping all Barbed Traps correctly before trying to squeeze through (resigning might be the only way to get a run going if you are unlucky)
- after the first group of Behemoths, you'll be greeted with 3 Charged Blackness that have strong Air Magic nuke as well as Shock so don't get into their touch range
- Follow the path in the picture, you'll get approached by another group of Charged Blackness on the way, head left towards the Chaos Planes
About the Chaos Planes:
- There are nine sets of 1x Banished Dream Rider + 2x Wailing Lord, sometimes accompanied with 1x or 2x Skeleton of Dhuum or a patrol (consisting of 2x Riders, 1x Waling Lord and 3x Spectres (popups))
- Assuming you opted for using an Armor of Salvation we have 30 minutes after approaching the first group of 9x Mindblade Spectres which brought me to leave out 8. and 9. as these are the two spawns with another patrol or two skeletons
Once inside the Chaos Planes the game play loop will look as following:
- with VoP, EE + VoSi active, approach a static Rider and aggro the Wailing Lord, upkeep SoMS from this point onward all the time, once VoSi runs out, apply GA, EE + VoSi and clear the Rider, the Lords can be mainly ignored
- Aggro the spawning 3x Spectres and pull them towards a nearby right wall block location around the rifts, ball the foes and clear them
- The next group of 6x Spectres will spawn nearby, same procedure as before
- Before pulling the group of 9x Spectres I prefer to move to the next rider to go through the groups of 3x and 6x Spectres to make the most use of the Armor of Salvation, pop it once you ball the first set of 9x Spectres
- When approaching 3. there is a Skeleton of Dhuum, these can be approached whilst also attacking the Wailing Lords to outheal the skeletons damage through 3 target GA hits, point 5. is the same
- There is a patrol around 4. that should be cleared before attempting to take care of bigger groups, the patrol between 6. and 7. should be handled similarly
- If your Armor of Salvation runs out before clearing the 9x Spectres of 7. use the right angled area in the entrance to Pools as a way to mitigate their damage through the line of sight block it offers the Dryers should be cleared before taking care of the first spawn of 3x Spectres (both the 6x and the 9x will spawn in the right angled area)
