This mission can either be ran or fought.
Mission
Running
To see how to run this mission, you can look at Shade's video below for the run with PvE skills, or Serial's video with no PvE skills.
Fighting
Gate of Desolation can be pretty straightforward depending on your profession. Before you get your wurm you have to kill a bunch of mobs followed by the Queen Wurm to various health amounts.
It's important for this phase to bring
- Some kind of ranged decreased movement speed (Cripple, Crippling Anguish, etc) and/or a way to increase your movement speed
- Some kind of ranged damage (Degen works well, Wastrels, etc)
- Skill disabling skills are useful for countering heals, and the monks resurrection skills.
- A holy damage weapon See the Wurm page for an easy to access one
Pick which direction you wish to pull mobs (either left or right of the spore).
You should pull all paragons one direction (e.g. to the right) and space them out so they can't use their AOE shout res on eachother.
Other mobs you pull the other direction to prevent the paragons getting near them.
Note you will have to kill the paragon boss first more than likely at aggro range to prevent it from ressing it's group.
Other mobs that can be annoying are Dervishes, because they become immune to spells while under Vow of Silence; and the final group before the wurm phase, which consists in 1 Mes boss (that removes hexes; interrupts with cry of frustration; heal with ether feast and prevents you from using signets) and 1 Necro boss (that put a huge degen on you).
Once you've gotten through the groups you'll see the Queen Wurm step forward, and then it will start to chase you. Cripple it and deal ranged damage to it. Degen is very good for this.
Once you go through this cycle a 2 times, you'll finally be able to use the spore. From then on it's a very straightforward mission. Use the wurm speed skill to run through most mobs to Remains of Sahlahja (you don't need to wait for Palawa Joko). Only snares on the way are Margonite Sorcerers. You'll do this and then reach the end of the mission!
Note: if you're very comfortable with desert run, you can skip the first phase and run to the end immediately (see Shade's run below).
Bonus
It's not advised to do this bonus till you can come back with the Wurm Siege skill which will improve your ability to clear the bonus. Note that you don't need to keep the Junundu Youngs alive once saved.
