Mission
Struggled with this mission multiple times as both a level 16 Necro and level 16 Ranger.
- Throughout the mission, expect to be Crippled by packs of level 11 Grasping Ghouls. The skeleton mobs are easy enough as long as you only fight them 2 or 3 at a time. Try to Line of Sight the rangers.
- Once you get into the town (Hakewood), head directly to the west side of the town and aggro mobs into the level 15 Gate Guard. Once the Gate Guard dies, the gate will open and you can continue on with the mission.” Might be worth mentioning you can alternatively clear Hakewood and the guard will open the gate; especially since each villager saved gives a morale boost.
- Once you enter the bog with the Skeleton Rangers, kill the first group as normal. However, if you aggro the second group of Skeleton Rangers, but then break aggro from this group by turning around and running, this group will start a patrol. They'll eventually meet the 2 groups of Ghouls that are mentioned in the below bullet point. These 2 groups are hostile to each other; which can assist you with killing the Ghouls. The Skeleton Ranger patrol won't progress to Dorian in their patrol.
- If you choose not to use the above method, when you see two groups Grasping Ghouls, aggro the group of four and kill them separately from the group of three. If you let all seven Grasping Ghoulds get by you, they can kill Confessor Dorian and you'll fail the mission. The point that triggers the waves of enemies on Dorian (except the aforementioned ghouls groups) is on the first bridge just before Dorian Area. You'll know you've activated this trigger because your quest log will update.
- Once you're at Dorian, it's easy to be overwhelmed. Be careful here, as this is the most difficult part of the mission. Below are some tips for dealing with this section:
- Stack on top of Confessor Dorian. He's level 20 with a Heal Area that heals for 180 hp. His Banish is also especially strong against these undead.
- The monks will use Infuse Health which will cause them to lower their own health.
- The sorcerers have Earthquake and will use it when you're stacking on Dorian. It might be best to spread out when you see a group of three of them coming.
- If you're not fully stacked on Dorian make sure to stay within the health regeneration circle
- Instead of defending Dorian, you can rush to the final boss, kill it, and talk to the guy with scepter to end the mission
- The final boss is either an Ettin Warrior with Healing Signet or a Tree Ranger with Troll Ungent & Barbed Trap. Without an answer to their heals, you might not be able to kill him.
Bonus
The bonus requires you to first focus on saving Benji who will be in the first settlement fighting a random Undead boss. Once going into the settlement you'll want to ignore the other mobs and run straight for him as he can often die to the boss he fights. Once killed follow ahead of Benji, trying to hold aggro for as much as you can while killing anything focusing him. Once you've cleared the settlement and Benji is safe, head north through the gate to go via the bonus route.
Once you approach point #3(Highlighted below) you'll see the offering. You need to first go through the gate and defend Dorian, then go around, pick up the offering and run it back. Depending on level, armor level, and access to increased movement speed, you may be able to run past the Ettins on the path towards getting the offering
